SENIOR RULE!! PART 2

So this is what happens behind the shoot.

Following our senior sessions we like the keep the excitement going. We do this in many ways.

The day after we like to post some sneak peak images from each senior’s session on Facebook. Now they get to see some of their images and so do their friends. I love to see all of their comments. We also use Instagram the same way. We show color images along with black and white images. The special photo effects that we do are labors of love.

Once the senior and family has seen a few it’s time for them to come back to the studio for the whole reveal. I have to say that I still get butterflies in my stomach. I love watching their eyes light up when they see personality come to life in an image.

We offer many referral incentive packages and strive to become each family’s photographer for all the special times in their lives. We enjoy getting to know our client and becoming like an extended family. We strive for the customer service and strive to make each client happy. Give us a call to discuss your photography needs!!!

So this is my first Blog post!! I am completely new to blogging, so if anyone would like to drop me an email at kgriffin706@verizon.net about a suggested topic….THAT WOULD BE GREAT!!

I love all types of photography but my favorite is SENIORS!!!! Seniors love to be photographed, to show off their personalities!! They have an awesome sense of style and that is translated so well in their images. Seniors know what they want and aren’t afraid to tell you. This is something that I love. The best images are produced when the photographer and client work together!!!

When I first talk to a senior or their parents, I want them to know how excited I am to be their photographer. I want them to know that I will tailor their photo shoot to showcase THEIR personality and that their images will look unique! After all, each senior is special and their images show reflect that!!!

Before the shoot I want to know these things:

  • What are some of your favorite features about yourself?
  • What do you want to remember most about this time in your life?
  • Are there any specific locations you have in mind for your shoot?
  • How would you spend your ideal Saturday?
  • How would you describe your personal style?

Even though seniors are on top of the latest styles, they often need help when it comes to deciding what to wear to their session. This is why I have a Pinterest board. It’s just a little help to show some new styles. I am in love with bold colors and fresh fashion and seniors wear it so well!

It is important to me to make each client’s time with memorable and stress free (and fun). This happens with seniors easily because they are at an exciting stage in their lives, they have their whole future ahead of them. I enjoy talking with them, asking them questions, finding out what their plans for the future are. I strive to make them feel encourage and I invest in them while they are with me. I want to make sure that they feel appreciated and valued.  I hope that makes them feel confident hearing assuring words from an adult that isn’t their parent.

Not the tricky part…..some seniors have never been in front of a professional photographer other than the cheesy pictures their parents had them take when they were younger. I make them feel comfortable. Praise them when they look good in front of the camera. I love to turn my camera around and show them some little peaks of how well they are doing. THEY LOVE THIS! It will encourage them to keep up the good work, and will give them confidence in their appearance.

Senior leave the posing to me. Yes, I have some go-to poses for seniors. But since each person is uniquely different, I have several tricks up my sleeve. I have been taking screen shots of poses I am inspired by!!! I know it’s a little like cheating but I am always looking for the next fresh thing. I refuse to pose my seniors in all the same post!!!  Look for my next blog post about props and after a senior photo shoot!!
